English Journal
The 'English Journal' is a great place to find articles to help or ideas for future lessons. It is also a great place to learn more about what other English teachers are doing in the classroom around us. You can also find these articles on ERIC. Here are some articles that I have recently read:
Reading the Literature of War: A Global Perceptive on Ethics. By Kyle Vaughn. English Journal. Vol. 100, No. 6, Jul 2011, p 60-67.
This article is about how the author feels about how students will react to reading literature about war. As I do too, the author believes that it will open students eyes and make them think before they do something cruel or mean.
Letters to Our Forebears: Reconnecting Generations through Writing. By Gail Y Okawa. English Journal. Vol. 92, No. 6, Jul 2003, p 47-51.
This article is just about how the author believes that writing letters will help students learn from forefathers and foremothers. This article could also help you develop a lesson plan around this concept.
New War, Old Battles; Contemporary Combat Fiction for the High School Canon. By Randal W Withers. English Journal. Vol. 88, No. 6, Jul 1999, p 62-69.
The author in this article talks about how if we teach our students about war through fiction they will not figure out the impact that it made on our history. We need to teach our students the truth about it all and let them know how hard these times were during different wars. This way they will have a better understanding about the wars and their impacts.
